Medical Detoxification
Medical detox is the clinically supervised process of safely managing withdrawal symptoms when a person stops using drugs or alcohol. At ADAT Helpline, our detox program provides round-the-clock medical monitoring to ensure patient safety and comfort during the critical first days of recovery.
Our Detox Process
Every patient admitted to our treatment center follows a structured three-phase detox protocol:
- Assessment — Upon arrival, our medical team conducts a comprehensive evaluation including physical examination, substance use history, mental health screening, and lab work. This assessment determines the appropriate detox protocol for your needs.
- Stabilization — Our physicians and nursing staff manage withdrawal symptoms through evidence-based medication protocols and continuous vital sign monitoring. Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is available for opioid and alcohol dependence.
- Transition — As withdrawal symptoms subside, our clinical team prepares you for the next level of care, whether that is residential treatment, outpatient programming, or dual diagnosis services.
Substances We Treat
Our facility provides medically supervised detox for a wide range of substances:
- Alcohol
- Opioids (prescription painkillers)
- Heroin
- Fentanyl
- Prescription drugs (Rx)
- Cocaine
- Methamphetamine
- Benzodiazepines
- Marijuana
Our medical team provides 24/7 monitoring and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is available to reduce cravings and prevent relapse during and after detox.
Residential Treatment Program
Residential treatment is a full-time, live-in program where patients receive intensive therapy and structured support in a safe, substance-free environment. ADAT Helpline offers 30-day, 60-day, and 90-day residential programs at our Chicago facility, with the duration determined by each patient's clinical needs and treatment goals.
During residential care, patients participate in daily individual counseling, group therapy sessions, evidence-based therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and holistic wellness activities. Our clinical team works with each patient to develop a personalized treatment plan that addresses the root causes of addiction.
A Day in Treatment
Outpatient Treatment Programs
Outpatient treatment allows patients to receive structured addiction therapy while living at home and maintaining their daily responsibilities. ADAT Helpline offers three levels of outpatient care at our Chicago treatment center, each providing a different intensity of programming based on clinical need.
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
PHP is the most intensive outpatient option. Patients attend our facility five days per week for approximately six hours per day. Programming includes group therapy, individual counseling, psychoeducation, and therapeutic activities. PHP is ideal for patients who have completed residential treatment or who need structured care but do not require 24-hour supervision.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
IOP offers a flexible treatment schedule of three days per week, with sessions lasting approximately three hours each day. This level of care is designed for patients who are stepping down from PHP or who need ongoing clinical support while returning to work, school, or family life.
Standard Outpatient
Standard outpatient care consists of one to two individual therapy sessions per week. This level of care supports patients in long-term recovery who benefit from continued professional guidance, relapse prevention planning, and accountability.
Program Comparison
5 Days / Week
6 hours per day of structured therapy and clinical programming.
3 Days / Week
3 hours per day of group and individual therapy sessions.
1–2 Sessions / Week
Individual therapy for ongoing recovery maintenance and support.
Our outpatient programs function as step-down care, providing a gradual transition from intensive treatment back into independent daily living. Each step down is guided by clinical assessment to ensure patients are prepared for reduced support levels.
Dual Diagnosis Treatment
Dual diagnosis treatment addresses substance use disorders and mental health conditions simultaneously, because treating one without the other significantly increases the risk of relapse. At ADAT Helpline, our integrated approach ensures that patients receive coordinated care from addiction specialists and mental health professionals working together on a unified treatment plan.
Mental Health Conditions We Treat
Our clinical team is experienced in treating a range of co-occurring mental health disorders alongside addiction:
- Major Depressive Disorder (Depression)
- Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Social Anxiety
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Bipolar Disorder
- Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
- Personality Disorders
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Our Integrated Approach
Research consistently shows that treating addiction and mental health conditions at the same time produces better long-term outcomes than treating them separately. Our treatment center uses evidence-based modalities including trauma-informed care, EMDR therapy, psychiatric medication management, and individualized counseling to address the full spectrum of each patient's needs.
